Autobiography- By Alika Adzhani

AUTOBIOGRAPHY
By: Alika Adzhani

The day was October 29th 1997. A 49 cm long and 30.50 grams baby girl was born at 18:24 pm, helped by Doctor Abdul Latif at Medistra Hospital Jakarta. And yes, that was me. My name is Alika Adzhani, the name ‘Alika’ was chosen by my grandmother, and ‘Adzhani’ means that I was born when the Adzan Maghrib calls. My mom prepared a list of names for me such as Alya, Fathiyyah, Fathinah, Alika, Nadiyah, Athaya. And if I were a boy, my name would be Abyan, Arkan, Harits, Darry, Farhan, Farras, or Fauzan. Alhamdulillah I’m a girl because I don’t like any of them. I’m the only child in my family tree. I have 2 cats that count as family member.

I went to my very first playgroup at the age of 4, in 2001 at An-Nisaa’s Playgroup class for one year. Then I continued to An-Nisaa’s  Kindergarten. I was in Kindergarten for 2 years. I won the 2nd trophy for dancing. One day when I was in Kindergarten, my school held a concert and I got to sing in front of people. We prepared in the back stage, but suddenly I was lost and I don’t remember what’s going on. It turns out that my friends are already on the stage while I’m still looking for them, crying alone. My teacher found me and took me to the stage. It was the most embarrassing part because I was crying while singing on the stage with my teacher who’s trying to calm me down, and I was standing in the front line.

I hop in to the next level; Elementary School. And yes, still I was in the same school, An-Nisaa’ Elementary School. I was a troublemaker but the smartest at the same time at that time. I never got red marks on my Elementary Report. But when it comes to 3rd level, I was getting weaker and weaker. I chose DoctoRabbit as my Extracurricular since I was in the 3rd level until 5th level because on 6th level, we are not allowed to join extracurricular. And yes, I broke the record, I was the longest student that being in that Extracurricular (3 years strong). DoctoRabbit is an extracurricular that consist science + art and craft which we create something and have the scientific explanation about what we’ve made. DoctoRabbit is an official science community though. In Elementary School, I was really excited about anything that goes with science and arts. The DoctoRabbit team chose me to be the speaker on their stand in one of a mall in Jakarta. A lot of people were coming to our stand and started to ask anything about our scientific arts, and I got to explain every single of them. It was the unforgettable experience that a 5 grader being a speaker for a scientific art stand. Before being a part of DoctoRabbit, I was joining the folkdance extracurricular, and I’ve been in festivals and a competition which held in UIN University.
I have a really fun childhood. I have a group that called ‘Kids Next Door’ with my neighbors that consist 2 girls including me, and 5 boys. We made a little house out of Aqua’s box, that has 2 rooms in it, for boys and girls and it works. We have a same laser ring but in different colors, and a ‘Back Off Map’, it is a map that has a place with dangerous dogs. We have more than 2 basecamps, one of them was in my house, and we often play ‘Soap Skating’ on my clothesline floor which we had to cover all the floor with any kind of soaps until it’s really slippery. But as we grew up, we rarely meet one another. I often went to Puncak like every weekends, it is like weekend ritual for me and my family.
I continued my Junior High at the same school, An-Nisaa’ Junior High School and honestly, I never get bored. On Junior High, I was going on a student exchange to Surabaya for 1 week. It is one of the most unforgettable experience that I’ve ever had. I stayed in a village home near paddy, but it’s really comfy, and I need no air conditioner nor fan because the house’s located near mountains. Every morning I can feel the freshness of the fresh air, relaxing. And again, there I performed a folkdance that represents my hometown city, which is Jakarta, and they love it so much.
Choosing High School was probably one of the hardest things to do. I took tests on Bina Nusantara Serpong and Labschool Kebayoran, and Alhamdulillah both school accepted me. I was really confused whether I want to study at Binus or Labschool. It took more than a month for me to think about it, and I often argued with my parent. But in the end, I chose Labschool instead. I got a chance to be Class’s Consultative Assembly.
I’ve been through MOS, Pre-TO, Observation Trip or TO, and finally BINTAMA. I’ve never taste nor touch a snake before. But after I got through BINTAMA, I’ve taste the deliciousness of snake and honestly, I want another snake. Two weeks ago I just came back from a Cultural Mission in Poland, they held a festival every year and this year I got a chance to represent Indonesia at the International Folklore Festival.

I have a plan to go to ITB’s Business Management after I finished High School, to pursue my dream to manage my own hotel.
